Brothers, Hoff and Paul have been playing music forever, but started performing in public together in 1999 with their acoustic covers threesome 'Hessian Drape'. They played in local pubs for a while until they were picked up by founder member of rock band 'Porcelain'. After a year or so they decided to break away and start a band using their own material, having both written songs since they were young.
Shiseido Red started life as a rock band with drums, bass, electric guitar and keyboards, but as time went on they decided their true sound was at its best acoustically, This format allows the brothers the chance to exhibit the close harmonies, rhythmic and melodic style for which they have become renowned. After a couple of years of playing their new style they came across classically trained violinist Tessa Gilles who has added her own haunting and delicate vibe to the Shiseido sound.
Singer/pianist Paul’s lyrics are exquisitely emotive, with singer/guitarist Hoff's writing touchingly reflecting on social issues. Whilst the guys are inspired by an assortment of musicians; (including The Beatles, Tori Amos (band name chosen from a Tori lyric), PJ Harvey, Fleetwood Mac, Joni Mitchell, REM and The Smiths; to mention but a few!) when asked ‘who are they like’ it’s a tough one, for their sound is distinctively SHISEIDO RED.

The guys had a great time last year including ....... Supporting TEXAS at Arundel Castle. "This Brighton, Indie-acoustic 2 piece; winners of the ‘Rox Music Challenge’, ‘wowed the audience with their harmonies’ (W.S.G); as they supported ‘TEXAS’ at Arundel Castle, to a sell out crowd of over 5,000 at the Arundel Festival"

SHISEIDO RED have been interviewed, performed live, and given airplay on several
radio stations and are currently in the studio completing their first acoustic album, 'RAINBOW TRAUMA' . The CD will soon be available to buy directly from this web site and as a download from ITunes.
